Avondale College

Gilson College has a proud connection, along with all other Seventh-day Adventist schools, with Avondale College.

Avondale College is a private institution of higher education offering a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational courses. Its educational program seeks to develop the whole person. The two campuses, at Cooranbong and Sydney, provide safe and pleasant environments where students may enjoy Christian friendship while receiving a quality education.

Avondale College offers undergraduate degrees in Arts, Business, Science, Education, Nursing, and Theology. Postgraduate courses are available in Education, Leadership and Management, Nursing, Theology, and PhD. Vocational studies are available in Outdoor Recreation.

Avondale College is an education institution of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It also welcomes a growing number of students of other faith traditions who desire higher education in a Christian context. Students come from all states of Australia and from overseas. About 14 per cent of degree students are from countries outside Australia and New Zealand. About 60 per cent of undergraduates are boarding students, experiencing the interchange of ideas and group activities which are the strengths of residential campuses.

Avondale College's graduates are widely sought after by employers. Many Avondale College graduates have progressed to master and doctoral degrees at Australian and overseas universities, with an outstanding record of achievement.

In Year 11, students from Gilson College visit Avondale College as a part of the annual Year 11 camp. Gilson College is also a participant in the Avondale College President's Scholarship program, awarded to a Year 12 graduate intending on undertaking tertiary studies at Avondale who has met the stated requirements for this scholarship. Year 9 students also connect with Avondale College through their Outdoor Education programme. Avondale students accompany Gilson College students in the field on their major expedition to the Bogong Highplains National Park.
